Remote work was not a norm in 2019, but it is the main trend in 2020 and possibly in the future too.
For businesses which don't need to operate with physical assets, most staff can work remotely with local hubs if needed for strategy/critical decision making/risk mitigation or design.

++++++ What do I do? ++++++
I had worked for over 18 clients (Large enterprises, transformation projects, ERP SAP, Siemens | Mining | Utility | Global Manufacturing | Food & Beverage | Dairy | Public services ) and small medium businesses (under USD$1m annual turnover) which I both enjoy. I had also been a volunteer in multiple global not for profit organisations and local communitIES to develop strong community bonding and found amazing talent locally.
Since I have work both strategically and operationally, combining with domain function experience - Technology, Sales & Marketing, Procurement, Finance and Talent, it gave me ability to help many business to go through digital transformation, automation (to improve operational effectiveness), intelligent enterprise by utilising data to improve dynamic market demand, budgeting, forecasting and spend management.
My first global transformation project was established in 2009, being an active business partner and functional lead to deliver functional transformation in planning and supply network, utilised expertise and resources across Asia, ANZ and Europe, I discovered the opportunity was abundant and I took a plunge to work as an independent consultant ever since.
Since 2010, I have had the opportunity to travel even more, worked alongside Big 4 Consulting companies (Accenture, IBM,EY, PwC) and discovered the road to change for good, delivering positive impact to millions of people in the world. (typical transformation project budgeted of over $20m each year, with 200+ active professional services team members and leaders in the program)
10 years passed and the journey was overall very rewarding, I learned a lot in working with various levels of stakeholders as they all have different focuses/desires, navigate politics within the organisations to balance power and solutions for greater good, delivering value for the employees, customers and shareholders. If I had not taken risk, I wouldn't be who I am right now.
Risk and Reward?
Being an independent consultant is basically a professional services business, it has its ups(on-going high value contract which deliver transformation change for better customer experience) and the lows(down time in minimal capital project investments by clients hence impact the revenue). Neverthless to say, we have risk mitigation plan and strong financial management practice to navigate the down turn and utilise time to develop new business and renew toolkits to be ready for new generation projects.
I look forward to working with you, as a business partner, leader, client, friend, colleague, decision maker to make lives better and create a harmonious world.
What would you prefer when you seek the next career adventure?
